Hampta Pass Trek
Home hampta-pass
A narrow trail, a wide-open sky, and two dramatically different worlds—Hampta Pass is where it all collides. Connecting the green Kullu Valley to the barren expanse of Lahaul, this trail is a five-day transition from pinescented meadows to wind-chiselled deserts. The journey begins just outside Manali, then rises through forest canopies, waterfalls, and boulder-strewn glades before reaching the 14,000 ft high pass that slices through the Pir Panjal range.
What sets Hampta apart isn’t just the change in terrain—it’s the shift in feeling. One moment you walk through mist-drenched woods, and the next you’re staring down into Lahaul’s vast emptiness. Add a visit to the surreal blue of Chandratal Lake, and the experience becomes a story stitched with water, wind, and wonder.
